Frequently Asked Questions

Below is information we frequently get asked about! We’ve tried to include as much information as possible, however if you have a question that’s not answered here, please call our friendly team on (07) 3348 6661 or use our contact form and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible with the answer to your question!

Q: I am a new patient - do you have room to see me?

Absolutely! We’d love to support you on your dental health journey. Please call our friendly team on (07) 3348 6661 to find a suitable appointment time, or book online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! We look forward to meeting you soon!

Q: How often should I see a Dentist?

We believe that prevention is a much better option than cure! The key is maintenance. Most dental problems, such as decay and gum disease usually don’t cause discomfort until there is a severe progression. Identifying these early is critical.

To prevent tooth decay and gum disease, the Australian Dental Association recommends regular 6 monthly maintenance visits as well as daily brushing and flossing.

Q: Do I need to do anything before my appointment?

No need to do a thing! If it’s your first visit with us, we just recommend arriving a little earlier to complete our medical history form before your appointment.

Q: How much does an exam and clean cost?

The cost of a dental exam and cleans vary depending on your insurance provider (if any). We pride ourselves on being extremely competitive on price and we accept all insurance providers. We strive to ensure the best experience possible. If you would like a firm quote for your visit, please call our team on 07 3348 6661 or send us an enquiry via email admin@dentaloncambridge.com

Q: When should I start bringing my children to the dentist?

We believe the earlier the better to teach your child about the importance of looking after their teeth. We think bringing your child to one of your exam and clean appointments is the best way to introduce them to the dentist. That way, they can see our dental practice, meet Alex, Lloyd or Jodi and our team and get used to the environment before their own appointment.

We recommend their first appointment to examine their teeth should be around the age of three, however, as a parent, you know your child best, and it’s always important to trust your own instincts as to whether they are ready to visit us. Their first experience should be fun and positive, and we will do our best to ensure this is the case! Learn more here about our children’s dentistry services.

Q: I have a tooth ache - what should I do?

We believe that as soon as you notice something different, it’s always best to visit your dentist as soon as possible. This gives us the best possible chance to be able to provide treatment that will save your tooth and be as cost-effective as possible. We always have emergency appointments available, so please call us as soon as you can so we can assist you.

Q: How often should I brush my teeth?

To maintain the health of your teeth and overall oral health, we recommend brushing your teeth for at least 2 minutes morning and night.

Q: Why is it so important to floss?

Flossing may not seem like a big deal but did you know that when limiting our cleaning to brushing only, 40% of the surface area of the teeth goes uncleaned? Tooth brushes both manual and electric when used well do a great job of removing plaque and food deposits in easy to access areas. Unfortunately toothbrush bristles cannot pull the teeth apart and clean in this high caries risk zone known as the contact area. Flossing helps to care for all areas of your mouth, it removes plaque and bacteria from the narrow spaces in between your teeth and down to your gum line. This can prevent tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath. For optimal results we recommend flossing daily.
