Straightening your teeth is about more than just looks!
Did you know that straight teeth are not just lovely to look at, but are much easier to care for? When teeth are crooked it is much harder to get the toothbrush bristles and even floss to the areas of your teeth that are overlapping. This leads to a build up of plaque and bacteria, which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Additionally, some patterns of malocclusion (crooked teeth) can alter the way that we bite and chew leading to increased jaw pain and stress on your temporomandibular joints (TMJs). Teeth that are not aligned can also increase the wear and tear on your teeth overall, which can mean accelerated aging and chipping of the teeth.
If you would like to have beautiful straight teeth but the idea of traditional braces puts you off, you may benefit from clear aligners. Clear aligners are comfortable thin clear clip on devices used to correct crooked teeth, they are discreet and a minimally visible alternative to braces that can help you achieve a straighter smile. They are the modern way to straighten your teeth which is suitable for adults from 18-85 years of age.
At Dental on Cambridge we use the latest in 3D scanning and imaging technology to carefully plan the complete series of movements your teeth need to go through to achieve a straighter smile. A series of custom-made aligners to facilitate these movements will be provided by Alex which will gradually transform your smile. They are made out of strong medical-grade plastic; however, they are smooth, making them comfortable and easily removed. Treatment length is dependent on each individual case; however the average treatment time is usually between 8 to 12 months, with some patients only requiring 6 months treatment, and others requiring 18 months. We are able to assist with many payment options to ensure this service is affordable for our patients.
